Rosalia “Rosie” Ingaborg (Norbye) Lohmeier passed away peacefully at The Aspen Assisted Living in Woodland Park, Colorado on March 7th, 2023 at the age of 100. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Limon, Colorado on March 24th, 2023 at 11:00AM. Rosie, as she was fondly called, was born to Ingebright and Karen Langli Norbye on December 16th, 1922 in Devon, Montana. Rosie’s parents immigrated from Norway in 1917 and settled in Devon, Montana before relocating to Limon, Co in 1924. Rosie graduated from Limon High School in 1941. She spent her childhood and early adulthood working on a farm her parents purchased located 20 miles north of Limon. She grew up with six siblings. Preceded in death by brother “Olaf” at two years of age, sister Olive Calvert, second brother Olaf Norbye, sister Inga Pirkle, sister Ovidia Smith and brother Peder Norbye. She is also proceeded in death by great grandchildren, Hayden Kaufman and Sutter Von Kaufman and great great grandchild Paisley. Rosie did temp work at the Office of International Affairs and Commonwealth Electric before marrying Gerald George Lohmeier on March 14th, 1947. The couple spent their life together in Limon, Colorado for 45 years before Gerald’s passing on November 29th, 1992. Six children were born to this union. Rosie had a passion for creating beautiful things. After being taught how to sew and knit by her mother in her early teens, she gained a lifelong hobby and skill. She created her own outfits growing up and went on to sew quilts and knit hats, gloves, scarfs, and baby blankets and clothes for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was also known as the local seamstress for residents of Limon and Limon High School Athletics for many generations. Rosie loved to watch the Rockies and the Broncos. She loved to bowl and became a member of the 600 Club in 2000 and was recognized as Honor Bowler. She bowled for 32 years including many years with her daughter Pam. She finally gave up bowling at the age of 93. One of Mom’s goals was to make it to 100, have a birthday party and to be the only one in the family to reach 100. She had a wonderful birthday party at The Aspen with many family and friends attending. It was a good day and she enjoyed it so much. She is survived by son Patrick (Barbara) if Florissant, Co; son Michael of Centennial, Co; daughter Pamela (Bob) Kahanic of Limon, Co; daughter Marilyn (Ron) Lohmeier-Howland of Lake George, Co; daughter Gwen (Jeff) Huddy of Calhan, Co and daughter Margie (Craig) Wilson of Divide, Co. 18 Grandchildren, 43 Great Grandchildren, 10 Great Great Grandchildren. We would also like to thank the Limon Family Practice in Limon, Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, The Aspen Assisted Living and Pikes Peak Regional Hospital staff in Woodland Park for the care you gave our mom all these years.
