Byron was a 1974 graduate of Twin Rivers High School, Bode, IA and attended North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in Mason City, IA where he received a degree in diesel mechanics. He was also active in school band and chorus, played guitar, and sang with his siblings for several occasions and events. Byron was a member of the church choir, ChiCentra singers, and Luther League. As a child, Byron always wore his cowboy jacket. He moved to Colorado and made it his home. First living on a ranch and then moving to smaller communities where he was a volunteer fire fighter in each community. He loved the mountains and the Colorado air, it had always felt like home to him. Byron’s work career included time at Theisen’s, Schwan’s, John Deere, Ace Hardware and over the road trucking before going to work for Colorado Department of Transportation. He retired in 2021 from CDOT after nine years. Byron enjoyed time with his dogs, watching sports, and always looked forward to his next game of golf.
