Obituary of Leila Amberger
Leila Fay Amberger, 91 formerly of Genoa, Colorado passed away on December 7, 2014 at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Hugo, Colorado.
Leila was born on February 2, 1923 in Genoa, Colorado to Everett and Gladys (Seymour) Westfall one of ten children born to this union. She attended school in Genoa, Colorado.
She married Donald Eugene Amberger on August 19, 1941 in Goodland, Kansas and to this union two daughters were born.
Leila loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother first and foremost, she also enjoyed crafts of many kinds including macrame, hand work, sewing, her beautiful flower gardens and especially playing cards. Don and Leila spent their winters in Arizona for over 35 years making many treasured friends. Leila worked at the Defense Plant during the War and retired from the Genoa Post Office after 22 years there.
Leila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, sisters; Waunita, Thelma, Fern, Viola, Luceile, baby Gail, brothers; Gilbert and Leroy Westfall. She was also preceded by daughter, Donna Dreier, grandson Gail Dreier and granddaughter, Erin Miller.
Leila is survived by daughter Jan and husband Ed Emmerling of Genoa, Colorado, granddaughter Terri and husband Ord Miller of Limon, Colorado, grandsons; Mark (Catrina) Emmerling of Aurora, Colorado and Kelly (Candy) Emmerling of Greeley, Colorado. She is also survived by brother Delbert (Sylvia) Westfall of Castle Rock, Colorado and nine great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
