Obituary of Darlene M Mikita
Darlene Millicent (Trojanovich) Mikita went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on June
21st 2022. She passed away at her home in Ramah Colorado with her family by her side.
Darlene was born on August 14th 1942 to Mike and Annette Trojanovich the third daughter out
of five. She was born and raised north of Calhan and graduated from Calhan High School.
While in high school she played on the girls basketball team, was a cheerleader, a homecoming
queen and Senior Queen. Darlene is a thoughtful person. She always wanted to be a beautician
from the time she was a little girl but with four sisters and a terminally ill father she didn't feel
right to ask for help to fulfill her dream after graduation. Instead she took a job at the First
National Bank in Colorado Springs until she married her husband, Larry Mikita in 1961. To this
union four children were born. Dora, Lori, Shelia and Larry John.
She was the mother of two when the opportunity arose for her to be able to attend Beauty
School in Colorado Springs she received her license in 1969 and worked for a while in one of
the shops in Simla. She did open her own shop in Calhan and in July of 1974 built a new home
on a farm west of Ramah, by September she had a shop in her home and was working hard.
She was active in church work, being a member of St Mary's Orthodox Church since her youth.
She was also a member of the Rosmarie Ladies.
Darlene was married to her husband Larry for 44 years, until the time of his death in 2004.
She is Survived by her four children Dora Ennis and husband TJ, Lori Meier and her husband
Larry Don, Sheila Tart and son Larry John Mikita and his wife Shannon. She also had 14
grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also, survived by her sister Gladys Glaser and
brother in-law Edwin Glaser. She had many nieces and nephews, and godchildren. All were
very special to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Annette Trojanovich, her husband Larry,
her sisters Delores, Mary Ann, Sharlene, and
great grandchild Michael.
Darlene was a very selfless lady and a godsend to everyone she knew. Darlene was very
loving, caring and kind. She touched many hearts in her lifetime.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
