Obituary of Chester Gene Johnson

Chester Gene Johnson, 88 passed away Saturday September 4, 2021, in Graford, TX with family by his side. Gene was born May 7, 1933, to Joe and Jeffie Johnson. Gene married the love of his life September 18, 1976, Eileen Johnson (Cole). They lived in Evergreen, CO until they moved to Yoder, CO, Gene construction, farming and ranching, and Eileen an accountant. He and Eileen spend nearly 21 years together there before her passing in 2013. Gene remained there until buying a house on Possum Kingdom Lake in Graford, TX in 2018. He was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Gene would spend the winter months in Texas enjoying the warm weather and fishing, he would spend the summer months in Colorado visiting family and friends. Gene also enjoyed spending time fishing with family while in Colorado. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Eileen Johnson, parents Joe and Jeffie Johnson, mother-in-law Virgie Cole, son Phillip Lacey, grandson Josh Lacey, 7 brothers, and 3 sisters. Gene is survived by son Rick (Sherry) Johnson of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Elaine (Doug) Berger of Texas, son David Lacey of Arriba, CO, daughter Ginny (Bill) Poole of Rush, CO, 7 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
