Obituary of Sandra K. Moore

Sandra Kay Moore was born April 5, 1949 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to Rosella Owen. She lived the first five years of her life in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania until her family moved to Tempiute, Nevada. Sandy and her two sisters moved to Idaho Springs, Colorado in the late 1950s and then to Lakewood, Colorado, in the early 1960s where her youngest sister was born. Sandy attended elementary and Junior High School in Lakewood and later Lakewood High School. Her first son, Richard Charles Owen was born October 4, 1966. Sandy worked as a caregiver at a Lakewood nursing home in the late 60s and early 70s. In 1972, three weeks into their relationship, Sandy married Ted Moore of Flagler, Colorado. They both resided in Denver and worked at various jobs. In 1973 Ted received a job offer from his hometown of Flagler which he accepted. While Ted worked for the town of Flagler, Sandy worked at a nursing home in Limon. Her second son, Eli Paul Moore was born on July 27, 1973. In 1975 Sandy was baptized and became a member of the First Congregational Church of Flagler. In the late 70’s Sandy was a leader in the Cub Scouts organization as well as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Congregational church Diaconate. After leaving the Limon Nursing home, Sandy spent the next 28 years of her working career at the Colorado Bird Seed Company starting in 1980 and retired in 2008. Upon retiring she took a job at the Co-op Country Store where she spent four years until 2013. Sandy was diagnosed in 2005, with the first of several types of cancer she experienced which she fought valiantly for 18 years.
