Obituary of Donald Lee Grokett

Donald Lee Grokett was born October 22, 1942 at home North of Kutch, CO to Thomas Jr. "Bus" and Mabel (Gordon) Grokett. Donald was born a twin, with his sister Donna, who passed at birth. Don grew up on the family farm and attended Central School for a while and then attended Simla High School where he graduated. Don excelled at sports and played football, basketball, and track when he was not at home working alongside his dad. Don was a hard worker his entire life. He started his truck driving career hauling gas and cattle for Ralph Kincaid. Donald had numerous truck driving jobs until he finally bought his own truck and went into business for himself. During this time Don met Kathy Green and married the love of his life on July 21, 1968. Don and Kathy moved to South of Limon and started their family. Gary Lee was the first to be born to the couple on March 12, 1975 and later Terry Lee was born February 7, 1979. Don continued his truck driving business and supported the boys with school sports and rodeo. Don and Kathy welcomed Heather into the family with the marriage to Gary in 2001. The family grew with twin granddaughters Taci and Riatta. The grandchildren were Don and Kathy's biggest joy in life. The family lost Kathy in December 2019 unexpectedly. Donald continued truck driving alongside his son Terry. Terry married Christina in March 2020, combining their children Catherine, Evan, Caryn, Clint and Thomas. Donald passed March 18, 2022 at Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, CO surrounded by family and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Jr. and Mabel Grokett, Donna his sister, and wife Kathy. Donald is survived by his son Gary and Heather (Blasingame) Grokett of Limon, CO and their daughters Riatta and Taci; Son Terry and Christina (Thelen) Grokett of Hugo, CO and their children Catherine, Evan, Caryn, Clint and Thomas and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
