Coach Book was a huge influence on this incorrigible and defiant kid’s life. There used to be a sign as you went downstairs into Simla’s old locker room that read “Profanity is the ignorant man’s way of expressing himself “. He was truly a great man and had no idea how much he influenced a redneck kid’s life.

I coached the Sophomore team at my Alma Mater, AAHS for Allan while doing my student teaching.
That led to a 30 year career in coaching. Allan was the consummate gentleman and teacher. He was an example to all he touched in how to be a good person and how to live life. He will be missed.

Judy and Alan's family, we are so sorry for your loss. Judy and Alan were also both great supporters of 4-H positive youth development. They both served as 4-H judges for the Elbert County Fair over the years. Alan also served as a state 4-H project judge at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. Alan was the most positive supporter of all youth and loved seeing all the hard work and dedication of the 4-H members. Alan was a man of Integrity-Honesty, Service-Kindness, and Encourager of Excellence, always giving his best! His light and love will be missed by the entire community. Mr. Book was an amazing teacher Such a caring man. I was bullied relentlessly in school. Because I was born with cancer and Radiation made me different. But I have carried Mr. Books kindness and inspiration with me all my life. I know there's a special place in heaven for him Wonderful teacher.

Allan is my older brother. I have many fond memories of Allan but one is special to me as a little brother. I was 13 years old, if I remember correctly, when Allan asked Judy to marry him. Allan told me he was going to ask Judy to marry him and he asked me to go with him to Denver to propose to Judy. I don’t remember the actual proposal (sorry Judy) but I do remember Judy’s brothers, Bill and Jim, taking me to a drive in for a Coke on Colorado Boulevard. That was my first trip to the big city of Denver and it obviously left a big impression on me. The bigger impression was that Allan would ask one of his brothers to join him to ask Judy to marry him. Allan was a great brother and friend. He will be missed by family and friends. Rest In Peace brother Allan. Rick and Chris Book
