Obituary to be posted when it becomes available.James Franklin Johnson, Jr. was born Jan. 27, 1940 in a farm house west of Deer Trail and passed from this life on Oct. 31, 2021.James was born to James Franklin Johnson Sr. and Trese Murphy Johnson he was the seventh child of eight.He attended school in Deer Trail until his sophomore year, then he joined the Army and finished his education there. He served 1 ½ years in Germany working on nuclear weapons. He was discharged after serving 6 years. He married Linda Pisel on Sept. 28, 1962. Two daughters were born to this union Theresa and Sandra. Jim worked road construction most of his life, retiring from Kiewit Western Construction Company after 31 years. He started out as a truck driver advancing to truck foreman and finally a job superintendent. He was Captain of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Posse in the early 1970’s, was President of the Deer Trail School Board in the 1980’s, Mayor of Deer Trail in early 2003 serving two terms. He was once again elected Mayor in 2018 and would have been up for re-election in 2022.He was a member of the Deer Trail American Legion Post #121. He loved to bowl and was a member of 2 leagues in Aurora. He loved to fish and hunted in his younger years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, two daughters Theresa Williams (Bob) and Sandra Long (Don). Four grandchildren Wesley Williams, Stephanie Lopez, Braden Long (Ashley) and Brock Long. Four Great Grandchildren Kinsley Williams, Brecken Long, Berkley Long and Hudson Williams. A sister Della Tevay, Sara Hamacher (Darrell), Ramona Sweet and Brother Hugh (Deanna) and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Ralph, Elbert and George.When he was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1989 he said he wanted to live long enough to see his grandkids graduate from school, this dream was fulfilled and then some.
