Obituary of Donald McKee
Biography
Donald A. McKee, a newcomer to Burlington, passed away December 29, 2014. Donald was born to Harold A. McKee and Dorothy E. Husser in San Bernardino, California and resided in California until moving to Grand Junction, Colorado in the 1960s. Donald served in the United States Navy during WWII, as an electronics instructor at Great Lakes, Illinois. He was proud to be included in the last Honor Flight of WWII Veterans from the Western Slope to Washington, D.C.
As a young man Donald worked in the aircraft industry. In Grand Junction, Donald was with U.S. Department of Energy until his retirement.
Donald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many years as organist in the Grand Junction Fourth Ward. He was a talented musician and composer. He was also a member of the Gold Wing Riders Association and enjoyed many years traveling across the United States on his Gold Wing.
Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Fearns and his first wife, Patricia Weatherman. Survivors include a sister, Darline Holt of Tucson, Arizona, his brother, Alan Amarias of Lake Elsinore, California, daughter, Bobbie Cutler of De Poe Bay, Oregon, and wife Joyce of Burlington. Donald will be sorely missed by friends and family. He especially enjoyed time spent with great grandchildren.
A memorial service and inurnment will be at Memorial Gardens, Grand Junction, Colorado at a later date. Local arrangements were entrusted to Love Funeral Home, Burlington, Colorado.
