Obituary of Francis "Smokey" Boese

Francis Wayne Boese, 72 of Hugo, Colorado passed away on December 30, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Francis “Smokey” was born on January 7, 1942 in Alexander, Kansas to Elmer and Ethel (Morgan) Boese one of six children. He grew up and graduated from Alexander High School in 1960. Smokey moved to Colorado after meeting Frankie in 1962. The couple was married in June of 1962 in Wakeeney, Kansas and the couple was blessed with three children. Smokey loved ranching and the lifestyle that supported his passion. He loved animals, being outside, and involving his family in the daily chores. Smokey enjoyed fishing and he shared that passion with his grandchildren. If there was a pond with fish you could find Smokey. He also enjoyed hunting and raised dogs including grey hounds, coon hounds and labs that he would take hunting with him. Smokey was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frankie, brothers; Hank and Bert, sister Erma and granddaughter Megan. He is survived by his children; Sandy Koepke of Childress, Texas, Mark ( Vickie) Boese of Merrimack, New Hampshire and Kay Boese of Rock Springs, Wyoming and his companion of 13 years, Virginia Anthony of Hugo, Colorado, brother, Roger (Judy) Boese of McDowell, California and sisters; Stella (Alan) Miller of Wakeeney, Kansas and Hazel Sharman of Ellinwood, Kansas. Smokey is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
