Obituary of James H. Frank

James Herman Frank “Jim” passed away on March 28, 2021 at the age of 64. Jim was born on May 9, 1956 in Dodge City, Kansas to Herman and Velma Frank. Jim was the oldest of six children. He grew up in Dodge City, Kansas, went to Sacred Heart Catholic School 1st - 8th Grade and graduated from Dodge City High School. He also attended Dodge City Community College. Jim was a Boy Scout, played sports, received his black belt in Jujitsu, played the trombone, and had a love for music. Jim came to Limon, CO in 1980 to visit family and shortly thereafter decided to move to Limon. He met Tamera Garnhart and they were married in September of 1982. He was blessed with three daughters, Jamie, Rachel, and Cassena. Jim became a member of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Jim also started his own business as a floor covering installer, a craft he learned from his father. Not only did he install flooring, he was a carpenter by trade. He helped remodel and build homes including the home he built for his family and where he continued to live until he passed. He took great pride in his craftsmanship. He was fortunate enough to get to work with many of his family members and friends. Jim did not know a stranger; he could talk to anyone and always had a story to share. Jim would talk to you about his love for fishing, hunting, western movies, and the Kansas City Chiefs, but more importantly his kind heart showed through in his caregiving to others in need. While Jim always had a story to share his true passion and pride above all were his daughters. He could always make them laugh with his sense of humor, but loved them deeply and authentically. He loved and supported his daughters every step of their lives. He was overjoyed when he became a grandpa “papa” in 2007. He had 4 grandchildren. He went out of his way to be present in their lives sharing his wisdom while entertaining and playing with them. His sense of humor, friendliness, and goofiness will be missed by all. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Herman Frank, brother, Joe Frank, son-in-law, Tyler Patton and grandson, Julian Patton. He is survived by daughters Jamie Frank of Limon, CO, Rachel Patton of Edmond, OK and Cassena Henning (Jason) of Westmoreland, KS; grandchildren Alek of Edmond, OK, Persaius, Adilynn and Emmett of Limon, CO; mother Velma Frank of Limon, CO; sister Kathleen (Loren) Coval of Dodge City, KS; sister JoAnn (Doug) Ratzlaff of Limon, CO; brother John (Brenda) Frank of Florissant, MO; brother Tom Frank of Broomfield, CO; sister-in-law Tammy Konecny and brother-in-law Rick Konecny of Dodge City, KS as well as many, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that he loved dearly.
