Obituary of Alice Pridgen
Alice Marjorie Pridgen of Calhan, CO passed away January 8, 2015 at the age of 86. She had lived in Calhan, CO since June 1972. The last few years of her life had been spent at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Simla, CO.
Alice was born October 6, 1928 in Escambia County, FL to parents Joseph Pasco Jernigan and mother Nannie (Hutchens) Jernigan. She was the oldest of six daughters. In 1945 Alice graduated from Escambia County High School and then her parents moved to Crestview, FL. Alice was then employed with the Florida State Welfare Dept. In May 1946 she met her future husband, Charles. They were married March 22, 1948 in Biloxi, MS.
Alice and Charles were married for 66 years, and to this union were born three sons and one daughter. In 1995 Alice retired from the U.S.A.F. Civil Service Dept. after completing 37 years. During this time she received many awards and citations for services rendered.
Throughout the years this lady displayed who she really was; patient, courteous, loving, and thankful every day. Her priorities were ever the evident. First: mother, wife, church, country and community. One of the most gratifying experiences she enjoyed was managing the Church Bishop Storehouse in Colorado Springs, CO. She received high praises for her service by leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Jerry Lee and Joseph Allen.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Pridgen of Calhan, CO; son, Charles II; daughter, Sharon; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
