Obituary of Madonna E. Noah
Madonna Elizabeth Noah of Hugo, Colorado passed away at the age of 90 on September 1st, 2020. Madonna was born November 20, 1929 to Joseph and Katherine Beckman Schalk on the family farm southeast of Hugo, Colorado. After a few years of living in Denver and Peatz, Colorado, the family moved back to the farm. Following the accidental death of her father in 1939, Madonna’s mother moved the family to Hugo.
Madonna graduated from Hugo High School in 1948 and later married her high school sweetheart Norman F. Noah on July 9, 1949. Madonna and Norman were blessed with three children, Donald, Kenneth and Danelle.
Madonna began working at the Hugo cleaners while still in high school. Her and Norman bought and ran the cleaners during the early years of their marriage. In 1964, Madonna began working at Lincoln Community Hospital and Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide and central supply. Ten years later, she became Activities Director, at which she excelled. Madonna retired in 1995. Throughout her life, Madonna was a very active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as President multiple years, she was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society as well as other volunteer activities. Madonna enjoyed crafting with her group of ladies sewing, puzzles and reading.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Deloris (who died in infancy), Brother Melvin (who died in WWII), stepfather, stepsiblings, Edward, Maxine and Lorea, her husband of 52 years, Norman (2001) and her son Kenneth (2011).
She is survived by a stepsister Roberta, a son Donald (Janet) Noah of Pueblo West, Colorado, daughter Danelle (Mark) McElroy of Woodstock, Georgia, grandsons, David (Melissa) Noah of Lakewood, Colorado, and Jace McElroy of Woodstock, Georgia, granddaughters Tara Noah of Pueblo West, Colorado, and Megan McElroy of Woodstock, Georgia, great-grandchildren, Daniel, Reilly and Hannah.
