Obituary of Donald L. Koepke
Donald Leroy Koepke was born September 13, 1939 to R.D. Koepke and Barbara Burrier in Denver, Colorado. Don was raised on a farm south of Deer Trail and Byers on the Kincaid Ranch where they raised milo, wheat and milked cows with his parents. His dad (R.D.) passed away when he was 16 years old. His mom, grandpa, Don and sister continued running the farm until Don graduated in 1957. Don then went on his own hauling milk. He married Cleora Ochs, July 11, 1959. In this union they had a son Randy Koepke. He then married Sharon Hunt on May 14, 1965. In this union a son Chad Koepke and daughter Dava Koepke (Bashor) was born. Don worked as a blade operator for Arapahoe County then moved to Washington County and continued as a blade operator there. Then he moved to Strasburg, Colorado working road construction for a short time. Then moved to Last Chance Colorado to run the hotel and worked road construction in Brush, Colorado. He also pumped oil wells for a while. Then in 1982 he divorced Sharon. Don then moved to Flagler, Colorado where he resided for 30 years. He worked for Grasser Construction, Corman Feedlots and drove a truck for Navajo Trucking. After a period of time Don worked for Walmart where he retired a short time later. Don lived in Flagler, Colorado up until three months before he passed away, June 27, 2020 at the Hugo Nursing Home.
