Obituary of James Redpath
James and Alice Mae Redpath James Redpath "Red" age 97 of Genoa, passed away on June 6, 2020. He's again with his wife of 74 years, Alice Mae Redpath, who passed away on August 28, 2019 age 94.
James was born in Armadale, Scotland on January 9, 1923. His parents immigrated to the Chicago area about 1926. James stood out in the crowd as a big, red headed boy with a Scottish brogue in his earlier years. He loved football, basketball, and track in school. James and Alice met in high school. They dated about 5 years, frequently bicycling 25 miles each way to the Indiana sand dunes on Lake Michigan. They married in 1946 and raised 4 children and 2 grandchildren.
Though he enjoyed Chicago, he eventually dreamed of moving away from the city to try farming. They moved to Genoa in 1975 and never looked back. They loved their new life and friends in the surrounding communities.
James and Alice will be laid to rest at Walkscamp Lutheran Church Cemetery, not far from their farm. They will lay beside their son, James William Redpath, who passed away in 1979.
They are survived by 1 son, 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
To honor their love of their Colorado farming community, memorials can be made through Love Funeral Home to Walkscamp Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 188, Limon, Colorado 80828 or the Genoa Rural Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 157, Genoa, Colorado, 80818.
