Obituary of Dorothy Frances Pisel

Dorothy Frances Pisel, of Deer Trail, CO went home, on May 17, 2020, to be with her Lord and Savior. She fought a courageous fight while maintaining an unwavering sense of love & joy with her family and friends. Dorothy was born on April 12, 1946 and was raised on the family homestead, east of Deer Trail, CO. She married Zary W. Pisel, her high school sweetheart, in April 1963. They made a home in Deer Trail where they raised three children, who loved their Mom beyond words, Carolyn, Cathy and William. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, fishing and boating in the mountains. Later in her life she enjoyed traveling through-out the United States, Caribbean, and a special (long planned) trip to Ireland with her family. This recognized her Irish ancestry (Stewart & Fitzpatrick) and her love for Irish music and whiskey. She went on to complete her EMT training and serve as an emergency first responder, while balancing being a mother and working at the Deer Trail locker plant. She continued to have a diverse career including, cleaning service, catering, deli manager, teacher assistant and transportation driver for children with special needs, and in more recent years she loved to drive the kids to events as a CDL/bus driver. Dorothy served her community in many ways over the years including the Republican women’s group, Elkette, Arapahoe Library Board member representing Eastern Arapahoe County and more recently was re-elected as a Deer Trail Town Board Trustee, after a successful first term. Dorothy was preceded in death by her Husband, Zary William Pisel; Father & Mother, Herbert & Evelyn Stewart, née Peterson; and Brother & Sister-in-law, Wayne & Joan Stewart, née Hilterbrand. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Pisel; Cathy McKinney, née Pisel, & Jerl McKinney; William Pisel & Donna Pisel, née Huft; Sister & Brother-in-law, Mary Lou Gabriel, née Stewart, & Leland Gabriel; Grandchildren, Catherine Larson, née McKinney, & Jed Larson; Addie Pisel; Clinton Pisel & Alexis Scarpino; Caleb & Monica Mock, née McDonald; Kelly McKinney-Heater & Branden Heater; Jeremiah (JT) Pisel; Shania Mock & Blake Jacobsen; Taleen Collins & many nieces and nephews. She has ten Great-Grandchildren: Boaz, Karah, Zephaniah, Tirzah, Rhett, Cecilia, Brooke, Lorelei, Jaxson, Lilliana and by the end of 2020 two more sweet babies, who lovingly call her “GG”!
