Obituary of Sylvia Gieck

Longtime Matheson resident, Sylvia Shirley Strode Gieck passed away peacefully April 7, 2020. Sylvia was born December 26, 1939 to Stephen Stanley and Marguerite Belle (Verhoeff) Strode of Flagler, Colorado. Sylvia was one of six children born into this union. Sylvia was raised in Flagler, Colorado, graduated from Flagler High School, moved to Texas then to New Mexico and back to Limon, Colorado where she worked as a telephone operator for years. She met and married Donald Gieck of Matheson, Colorado. Matheson became her home. To this union one daughter Shirlee Ann Gieck was born. She was preceded in death by her spouse Donald, her parents Stephen Stanley and Marguerite Belle Strode, brothers John Campbell and Don Strode. She is survived by her daughter Shirlee Ann, sisters Zenelda Cornett and Alethia Klann, brothers, Loren Monte and wife Beverly Strode, Larry Strode, sisters-in law Stella (Campbell) Driscoll, Norma Strode and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Final arrangements were entrusted to Love Funeral Home in Limon, Colorado. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
