Obituary of Martha Lou Mitchell

Martha Lou Mitchell, 84, of Greeley, passed away Feb. 22, 2020 in Greeley. She was born September 22, 1935, in Walnut Shade Missouri, to Walter and Clella (Blansit) Cummings. Martha graduated from Spokane High School and was valedictorian of her high school class. She attended Missouri State University. She married Welby Mitchell and they had three children Michael, Sheree and Sheryl. Martha worked nearly 30 years at First National Bank in Limon. She moved to Greeley where she worked for Vectra Bank and The United Way before retiring. Martha was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She loved rooting for the Denver Broncos, Nuggets and Colorado Rockies. One her most favorite pastimes was supporting her grandchildren. She could be found in the stands cheering them on as they played football, basketball, baseball or wrestled. She attended Church services and bible study groups. Martha is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Smiley of Casper, WY; grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell of Taiwan; Michael Mitchell of Gillette, WY; Robert Smiley of Casper, WY; Adam Mitchell of Severance, CO; Jim Checkush of Strasburg, CO; Tiffeny Smiley of Casper, WY; Alysia Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; sibling Lola Garrison of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Mitchell; her daughter Sheree Mitchell and her parents Walter and Clella.
