My sincere sympathy to Lonnie, Marion and all of the family. Kay was a wonderful woman, with such a kind heart. May all your memories of her carry you through this very difficult time.
My heart breaks for you,

My sister, Wanda, and I were in grade school when Kay married our brother, Gene. We thought she was so pretty and we were very excited about the wedding. They both were known by their middle names so we thought they were a perfect match. Must have been because they were married for 50 years. Wanda and I always thought it was so fun to go visit them after they were married because Kay would paint our finger nails and style our hair in a sophisticated “up-do”.
Kay could naturally grow the most amazing long finger nails, that women now days will spend thousands of dollars on each year. I marveled on how she could help out on the farm and move all that irrigation pipe without break a nail. I admired her entrepreneurial spirit as she raised up her puppies and later ran the video rental and gift store in town. She was a talented artisan creating many beautifully crafted projects. I’m pretty sure most the area residents have one of her shimmering beaded Christmas ornaments.
Kay enjoyed doing daycare out at the farm. By this time their boys were grown and I remember her making a comment at the age of 42 that she wished she could have another baby. Um….. raising his brow, Gene’s eyes got wide and his jaw dropped….. I guess they would just enjoy taking care of other people’s babies. She loved her kids.
There are so many memories from her delicious cinnamon rolls to pizza every Saturday night to her chocolate éclair dessert for church pot lucks but what I remember most about her is that she had such a bright smile, an easy laugh, and a sweet loving spirit, which we will greatly miss. Love you, Kay.

Aunt Kay I love you so very much! I will always cherish the times we had together. I loved spending a week or two with you in the summer and helping you cook for the harvest crew. I remember when I got diabetes you brought me a Holly Hobbie to the hospital and when she broke a piece of my heart broke. I decorated my tree and I love putting the beautiful bead ornaments you made for me on the tree they will always be on my tree and you will always be in my heart. I love you forever! I know I’m not there but know I’m there in heart and spirit!
