Obituary of Joseph E. Roskos

Mr. Joseph Eugene “Buddy” Roskos, 86, of Hubbard and Calhan, Colorado, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his home in Hubbard.  Services will be held on November 15, 2019 at 9:00am at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Calhan, Colorado and the interment will be at the Roskos family plot in Calhan Memorial Cemetery in Calhan, Colorado.

Joe was born November 3, 1933 in Calhan, Colorado to Joseph Roskos Jr. and Sophia (Doven) Roskos.  He was raised in Calhan where he graduated from high school and worked at a hardware store before going to work for Timken Roller Bearing in Colorado Springs.  Joe left Timken to serve in the military where he obtained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force.  While stationed in Laredo, Joe met his future wife, Maria Minerva Perez.  After being discharged from the service, he returned to work for Timken before beginning a long career with the U.S. Postal Service.  Joe and Maria maintained homes in both Calhan, Colorado and Hubbard and were members of Saint Michael Catholic Church in Calhan.  In addition to being a military veteran, Joe was also a member of Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Vera (Henry) Roskos; son, Bob Roskos in 2011 and granddaughter, Sloane Mills in 2018.

           Survivors include his wife, Maria Minerva (Perez) Roskos of Hubbard and Calhan, Colorado; three children, Sherry Bryson and husband, Mark of Corsicana, David Roskos and wife, Lisa of Calhan, Colorado and Tes Williams and husband Jim of Hewitt; grandchildren, Matthew Roskos, Nicole Roskos Young and husband, Jacob, Chelsey Roskos, Conrad Newton IV and wife, Christine, Christopher Newton, Claire Newton, Jade Mills Nickell and husband, Jordan and Spencer Williams Meador and husband, Zach; nephew, Ronnie Roskos; niece, Alice Roskos Carpenter; several great-grandchildren and other extended family members and friends.
