Obituary of Richard L. Brown

Richard Leroy Brown, 77 of Genoa Colo. left this life peacefully on October 22, 2019 after returning home from enjoying coffee with his friends.

Richard was born on May 24^th 1942 to Howard L and Lucille J (Miley) Brown one of six children. Richard attended Genoa School through the 8th grade when he then began working for Red Gaede farming.      In 1970 he started working for Lincoln County Road & Bridge crew out of Genoa. He was always the first person to work to open the gates. Richard operated a Motor Grader. The hydraulic levers on the machine he operated would kick back but he just kept going. This machine had no muffler on it so Richard made it a straight pipe which made it have a loud cackle. Workers said that when he was plowing snow, he could be heard before going into a snow bank but once in the snow you could not hear him until he came out the other side just a going and roaring. Richard retired from the county after 38 years of service in 2008. The county presented him with a toy Cat Motor Grader in a custom wood box with his name and years of service. After retirement Richard worked odd jobs for people, mowed empty lots in Genoa and helped farmers during harvest.

Richard enjoyed life whether it was playing soccer in the driveway, bouncing around on an inner tube, playing baseball or jumping on a trampoline. He liked to collect old bottles and spending time with friends and family. He also liked to make things in his shop. He once made a skid steer tractor.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chester and Robert (Bob), and sister Rosalee Duncan.

He is survived by his brother Oliver Wayne and Marianne of Limon, Colorado and sister Elizabeth (Betty) Brown of Genoa, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday November 1, 2019, 11 A.M.   At the Genoa Methodist Church in Genoa, Colorado.
