Obituary of Barbara M. Shelp
Longtime Simla, Colorado resident Barbara Marie Shelp passed away unexpectedly in a car accident on Saturday, September 21, 2019. She was 49 years old.
Barbara was born February 26, 1970 to LaVern and Carolyn (Baumann) Shelp in St. Charles, Missouri. She was one of four children born to this union.
Barbara ran her own daycare for years, along with being a full time mom and grandma. She enjoyed her family and doing things with them and for them, especially being a caregiver to her grandson Donnie. She loved to hike in the mountains, observe nature especially bears and camping. Barbara would take her love of photography outdoors whenever she could. Outdoors is where Barbara preferred to spend her time around all the animals in their natural habitats.
She was a very giving person. She was baptized in the Catholic Church at a young age. She enjoyed doing things for other people especially going out on Christmas Eve and giving blankets, socks, hand warmers and food to the homeless. Her self-less spirit and immeasurable kindness will live on in the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.
Those left to cherish her memories are her parents LaVern and Carolyn Shelp of Lake Sherwood, Missouri, husband Howard Linton of their home in Simla, her daughter Jessica (Cody) Chambers of Hugo, Colorado, her son Joshua Shelp of Simla, Colorado, grandchildren Daunivin and Arianna Shelp, Lane, Kashlin, and McKenzi (granddaughter on the way) Chambers, her brother Mathew Shelp of Lake Sherwood Missouri, her sister Elizabeth Gonos, her niece Kirsten Gonos of St. Louis, Missouri and her uncle Ronald of Michigan. She also leaves to mourn several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Mark Shelp and her grandmother Marie Baumann.
