I use to help Della and became very fond of her. I always felt very comfortable in her home and enjoyed her dogs. I loved the jewelry she made and after serving on a mission for my church and having to dress nicely I wore necklaces she had made just about every day. I will miss her .

I remember my first summer working at the Limon Swimming Pool, she would come during the lunch hour and wade in the pool. After several days, she mentioned to me that she loved being in the water but was not as comfortable as she had once been. I told her that I would help her get over her nervousness about being the water. I loved to talk with her about the water and swimming. I taught her a few things but she taught me more about the simple art of listening. She joined several other women that had the same fears about water. What a great group of ladies that came to share my love of the water. She was such a sweet lady.

Della was widowed even before I met her on the rodeo trail in 1966, but she sure didn't sit around feeling sorry for herself or wanting someone to take care of her and the kids. She was a dynamo -- capable, talented, friendly and outgoing, hospitable and helpful -- and an exquisite horsewoman . . . carrying on the Simons cowboy and rodeo legacy in the finest manner. She almost immediately became one of my heroes; and she always will be. I am so bles't to have known and loved her. This world and the rodeo family are diminished with her passing, but Heaven's sure enriched! I know a lot'ta great horses threw their heads up and nickered when she skylined ridin' in over the hill. My love and sympathy are with you Walt and Jo (and your families, although I don't know them). I know you're all carrying on her legacy in the finest way, 'cause that's the only way she taught you. May God's love and the heartful of precious, wonderful memories she left you bring you comfort and peace at this difficult time.
Lovingly,
Rhonda

Della was an amazing lady. I always enjoyed my visits with her. She was a wonderful library patron and loved so many different types of books. She will be missed.

I have many fond memories of Della, even though I was very young when Norman worked for the same ranch my dad did. Also Jo and Walt as they were very young. As the years continued and we would go the Simon's rodeos I wanted to be able to run barrels as they did. She will be missed by many. Sending love, prayers and hugs to you all.
