Obituary of Jacki L Andersen-Higgins
Jacki Lee Andersen-Higgins, age 65, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. She was born on July 11, 1954 in Flagler, CO to Anders Eugene and Francis Andersen (Underhill.) Jacki grew up on the family farm northeast of Genoa, CO with her brother Richard and sister Vicki. The three siblings are 4th generation to work the family farm. Jacki attended Genoa School (K-12) and graduated in 1972. After graduation, she left the farm, got married and had her first son Jeremiah in 1975. She returned to the family farm as a single mother in 1976. While working on the farm, she also earned her associate degree from Morgan Community College. During this time, Jacki made a life changing decision and committed her life to Christ. In the early 1980s, Jacki lost both parents and was left in charge of the family farm. On April 13, 1985 she married Larry Higgins and together they had two sons, Joshua and Josiah.
Together Jacki and Larry (and later her sister Vicki) managed the family farm and ranch. In 2000, they started raising buffalo and Jacki’s love of heart-shaped rocks formed the new business name Heart Rock Bison. She was passionate about her church and the body of Christ. She attended Full Gospel Assembly in Limon for 42 years. Her passion and love for Christ continued to grow until her passing, and dearly loved the Lord. For the past 15 years, Jacki was also the director of the food bank at the church. While on the farm and ranch, Jacki would not back down to hard work, loved her bucket calves, Jersey cows, hunting for heart-shaped and unusual rocks, and babysitting her grandchildren.
Jacki is preceded in death by her parents, Anders Eugene and Francis Andersen (Underhill). Jacki is survived by her husband Larry of 34 years, her three sons and their families: Jeremiah and Imogene Higgins and their four sons, Tyler, Evan, Dylan and Brecklan; Joshua and Kelly Higgins and daughter Emma; Josiah Higgins; her sister Vicki Andersen, her brother Dick Andersen and her uncle Glen Ewing. There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends and family who will miss her dearly. God Bless.
