Obituary of Carol Shirley White
Carol Shirley Everitt was born on December 25, 1927, at home on the C.M. Everitt homestead, east of Parker, Colorado, to parents Carlos H. and Esther S. (Nelson) Everitt. The family moved to a farm/ranch on Comanche Creek between Kiowa and Elbert where Carol and her brother and sister rode horseback to the Lundy School. After the flood of 1935, the family moved to the old Vogt place east of Parker where Carol graduated in 1945 from Parker High School.
Carol wrote one time, “I grew up during the depression years and remember the beans and that awful cracked wheat, the hand-me-downs, but we were happy as kids and didn’t think of it as hard times, just our way of life.”
Carol was married to Freddie T. White in 1959. They began life together south of Castle Rock, Colorado.
Carol worked for the Larkspur Elementary School for 23 years retiring in May 1992.
After Fred and Carol moved to Kiowa, she worked for the Elbert County Library until her health began to fail.
She has resided at The Good Samaritan Society in Simla, Colorado since September 2017. She spent her days reading and in the company of good friends and family and the care of a compassionate staff.
Carol entered into rest on January 8, 2019, in Simla, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Esther Everitt, her brothers Bob, Bill, and Dick Everitt, and sister Evelyn Race.
Carol is survived by her son Jim White (Margie) of Kiowa, Colorado; Grandchildren Nicole Larson (Ross) of Ramah, Colorado, Chandra Schlabach (Jordan) of Parker, Colorado; Great-grandchildren Chloe and Taylor Schlabach; Numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends.

Per Carol’s request there will be no memorial service. Arrangements in care of the Love Funeral Home in Limon, Colorado.
