Donald Elliott

Obituary of Donald R. Elliott

Donald R. Elliott was born on August 2, 1935 in Hugo, CO to Garson and Cassie Elliott. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 24, 2018.  He grew up in Hugo with three brothers and five sisters.  He graduated from Hugo High School in 1955. After graduation he moved to Denver and pursued a career in the engineering design field working for Sterns Rogers that included mining, petroleum and other related projects. He loved this work that allowed him to travel across the United States where he got to enjoy many different ethnic foods.

After retiring he returned to Hugo where he met the love of his life Beth and on December 30, 1994 they were married. During their 23 years of marriage they shared their love of animals and have shared their life with Maggie, Sassy and Sophie.

Don enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, trap shooting and reading. His favorite hobby was his daily rides with his best friend Maggie. The highlight of his week was a weekly trip to Denver to eat Mexican food at his favorite restaurant.

Don loved to tell stories of his life as a child living in Hugo. He was very proud of his 38 years of sobriety. He was always willing to help those in need by being a AA sponsor, and volunteering to provide transportation for Lincoln Community Hospital.

Don (Donnie) will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his million dollar smile and the twinkle in his blue eyes.

Don is survived by his wife Beth, his best friend Maggie, family, extended family and numerous friends.

Per Don’s wishes there will be no public services at this time.
