Obituary of Balyn Brent
Balyn Keen Brent, 65, of Arriba, Colo., passed away of cancer complications on March 28, 2015 in Denver with his devoted family by his side. He was the first of four sons born to Kimel and Wanda (Crom) Brent on September 1, 1949. When Balyn was young, his parents moved north of Arriba to begin farming. Balyn gave his life to Jesus Christ at the young age of 12 at Sunnydale Church. He attended Arriba High School and graduated in 1967. He attended McPherson College for two years before studying and earning his Bachelors Degree in General Ag at Colorado A & M University, later CSU, in Fort Collins, Colo. in 1972.
On May 9, 1976, Balyn married Vicki Lynn Kressler. Life grew strangely dim in 1977, when Balyn suddenly lost his first wife and son, Aaron B. They both passed away from a rare blood disease. Balyn continued to turn his eyes upon Jesus and kept his Bible close for five hard years.
On March 20, 1982, Balyn married his sweetheart, Linda Louise Helling at First Baptist Church in Fort Collins, CO. Balyn and Linda moved to Arriba to build Brent Welding and Machine Inc, where he enjoyed countless hours of welding and engineering for thirty-three years. In the late 1990s, Balyn also started moving houses which he really enjoyed as well as grain bins and other buildings.
On April 20, 1984, Balyn held his second son, Ephron, in his arms. Balyn and Linda had four more sons and one daughter. Balyn was involved in the community and his local church. He was the church music leader and often played his trumpet. He was humble and content with what he had and would always stop what he was doing to help anybody. Balyn was a friend to all and a stranger to no one. He cherished his relationships and loved to visit with anyone, especially those in the hospital due to their health complications. He was not quiet about his faith and understood grace completely. He had sincere respect for veterans young and old.
Balyn was a loving older brother, who listened and continually offered a helping hand. Balyns greatest passion was being a dad and grandpa. Balyns death was gain to him, for he lived as Christ. Jesus has said, Balyn, well done, good and faithful servant.
He was preceded in death by; first wife, Vicki; son, Aaron; grandparents, Shelah and Hassie Brent, and Frank and Mildred Crom; In-laws, Harold and Lucille Helling.
