Obituary of Alnore Bandy
Alnore Nevina Knutson Bandy was born in Denver, Colorado on May 2, 1923, to Theodore and Emma Knutson. The eldest of five children, Alnore attended Union Colony School and went to Bovina for the 9th grade. She attended Christ Lutheran Church north of Genoa, was confirmed in 1937 and continued in her faith loyally at Zion Lutheran Church in Limon until her death.
On June 11, 1943, Alnore married Huey Everett Bandy and to this marriage seven children were united. Eugene, Shirley, Ted, Ellen Laverne, Helen, Wanda, Huey Jr.
After Hueys honorable discharge from the Navy in 1945, they farmed North of Genoa, then moved to Wiggins and worked on a dairy farm. Alnore assisted Huey with the farming and milking duties. In 1957, the family moved back to Limon where Huey worked at the sale barn and Alnore waited tables at the sale barn café, eventually taking over as manager for several years. She then waited tables at many of the local restaurants in town and was also a cook at Limon Schools. In 1972, after Hueys retirement from the Town of Limon, they purchased the Hi Plains Motel and ran it until July 1979. They sold the motel and purchased the current home on C Avenue in Limon. Huey passed away in January of 1980 and Alnore went back to waiting tables. In 1985 Alnore began helping her sister Thelma take care of their father Theodore until his death in 1992. She continued enjoying her favorite pastimes of gardening, quilting, taking care of her yard and listening to her police scanner. In 2008 when she suffered her second stroke she moved to Carlas Cluster Care in Limon. In the presence of her family, Alnore passed away at Carlas Cluster Care on April 17, 2015.
Alnore was preceded in death by her husband Huey, son Huey Jr., daughter Shirley, stepson Eugene, son-in-law Rick Butt, her parents Ted and Emma, brother Oscar and sister Thelma. Grandson Donald Bandy, great-grandsons Harrison Taylor, Tyler Bandy, and Tim Blanski.
Alnore is survived by her children, Ted (Pat) Bandy, Ellen Laverne Bandy, Helen Butt, Wanda (Jim) Brittain, son-in-law Ted Spaid and daughter-in-law Pat (Miller) Bandy. Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and twenty-two great-great grandchildren. Siblings Don (Della) Knutson and Betty Wann, numerous nieces and nephews and many many friends.
