Obituary of Dean Kinkel

Dean Kinkel was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 8, 1927 to Francis and Dean Brown. She died on January 13, 2018 in Hugo, Colorado. Dean graduated from Colorado College in 1949 with a degree in political science and education. She met Louis Kinkel in college; they married on September 2, 1949. Their three children are: Katherine Ann Ostenrude (Neil), Carl Francis (Julia) and Charles Dean (Glenda). Dean and Lou moved to Limon in 1960 where she became immediately involved in the community. She was an honorary “L” Club member, past chairman of the Lincoln County Republican Committee, precinct chairman, volunteer for Meals on Wheels, volunteer for the Heritage Society, speech judge, 50 year member of the Limon Methodist Church and member of the Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, and a tireless supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She loved to travel and visited every continent bringing back treasures and memories. Let us not forget that she was an excellent bridge player and played every chance she got. She is survived by her brother Lombard and sister Susan; her husband of 68 years, Louis; her 3 children; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
