Obituary of Esta Poss
Esta Helen Morey was born December 11, 1927 in Thedford, NE to Albert and Vleda (Snell) Morey, the youngest of 8 children. She spent her early years in the sand hills of Nebraska on the Dismal River. Esta lost both her parents at an early age and lived with her sisters and their families attending school in Nebraska, Karval, CO and Colorado Springs, CO. She was united in marriage to Herman Poss on June 2, 1947 and to this union was born 4 children, Trudy Horan of Harlowton, MT, Agnes Wilkerson of Hugo, CO, Louisa Mote of Hugo, CO, and Fred Poss of Hugo, CO.
Esta loved living on the farm and taking care of the many stray animals that Herman and the kids were always bringing home. There were always baby rabbits around along with kittens, dogs, and maybe a few coyote pups, raccoons, birds, squirrels and even a skunk or two. Even after moving to town she continued to have chickens and some peacocks. Try catching those guys around town when someone left the gate open! She enjoyed watching all the wild turkeys and deer that lived in her yard.
But most of all Esta loved having her grandkids around always taking them fishing or on adventures down to the creek to catch tadpoles and little frogs by the bucketful or go hunting for turtles on the country roads.
Esta was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Meda Morey, her husband Herman Poss, brothers, Milton Morey of Oregon, Jim Morey of Seneca, NE, Dale (Buck) Morey of Rye, CO, sisters Bonnie Darnell of Ordway, CO, Josie Edelman of Seneca, NE, Mary Seymour of Colorado Springs, CO and infant twin sister Vesta Morey. She is survived by her children Trudy (Tom) Horan, Agnes Wilkerson, Louisa Mote, Fred (Joie) Poss. Also her grandchildren, Darsey (Rob) Nicklasson, Bryce and Addie, Joe Horan, Shondell (Kevin) Peck, Tristan, Reagan and Rafe, Chavon (Beau) Meston, Stacie, Taylor and Cope, Kyle Mote, Celena (Leif) Sackett, Ryley, Kade and Kyson, Eric (Rhianna) Poss, Cy and Charli, Scott (Emily) Poss, Jax , Jace and Lynn Poss.
