Obituary of Wesley "Wes" Schoonover
Wesley Lee Wes Schoonover, 76 of Hugo, Colorado passed away on June 13 2015 at his home.
Wes was born to Woodrow Wilson and Lily Marie (McCabe) Schoonover on July 24, 1938 in Coolidge, Kansas. He was the third of four children born to this marriage. The family lived in Minneola, Kansas until 1946 when they moved to Limon, Colorado where Wes graduated high school.
Wes married Ruby Carol Simon on January 1, 1961 and to this union three children were born. The family made their home in Hugo, Colorado where Wes was a partner with his mother, Lily in the Farm Gas Company. He was very instrumental in the daily functions of the business until he retired in June of 2004.
He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, bowling and traveling to watch his grandchildren play ball. Wes also enjoyed doing puzzles and playing cards. He was very dedicated to Ruby, who after suffering a stroke, resides at the Lincoln Community Care Center. Wes was a member of the Colorado Cattlemans Association.
Wes was preceded in death by brother, Marvin Joe Schoonover and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Hugo, Colorado and his children; Wendy Rohrbaugh of LaSalle, Colorado, Justin Lee Schoonover of Sterling, Colorado and Jackie and Dan Patton of Montrose, Colorado. Wes is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by Dwain (Arlene) Schoonover of Burr Ridge, Illinois and sister Avril and Del Beattie of Limon, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
