Obituary of Winifred Pepper
Winifred Grace Pepper was born in Beaver County, Oklahoma Nov. 16, 1921 to Fred E. and Anna Mabel (Wilson) Casteel. The family moved many times as she was growing up, finally settling in the Karval area, where she graduated from High School in 1940. September of that year she married James Pepper, they moved to Hugo where he was Lincoln County Clerk until 1947. They then returned to the Pepper homestead northwest of Karval with son Larry and daughter Cherry.
Winifred was active in the Blue Cliff United Methodist Church, Karval School activities, Willing Workers Club, Friendship Circle, Karval Lamplighters, Karval Alliance, and the RSVP. She worked as a cook for several years at the Punkin Center Cafe, then drove the RSVP bus for a number of years. Winifred was a true volunteer, always working for the community, neighbors, friends and family. Health issues caused her to retire from these labors of love at the age of 91, she was later welcomed to the Carl and Cherry Stogsdill home in Dec. of 2013, where she passed away June 22, 2015 at the age of 93.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Julian, Dean, and Lester, sisters Anna, Ardella and Elizabeth and her beloved husband James in 1974.
Survivors are son, Larry (Tricia) Pepper and daughter Cherry (Carl) Stogsdill Grandchildren, Cynthia Eichler, Eric (Gwen) Pepper, Katie (Scott) Zipperer, Barry (Vicky) Seymour, Teri (Rick) Jewell, Bart, Tami, Christy and Ty (Deanna) Stogsdill. Great-grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca and Amanda Pepper, Nolan and Anastasia Eichler, Zea Zipperer, Nathan, Devin and Dillon Seymour, Michael, Shaun and Heather Jewell, Justin and Crystal Aaron, and Tyla Stogsdill.
