Obituary of Betty Harris
Betty Darlene Harris, a longtime resident of Burlington, Colorado passed away on Saturday, June 27th, 2015 at Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland Kansas. Born Betty Darlene Carson on May 29th, 1942, in Osage County Kansas. The daughter of Dean and Leona Carson, she was the second of 6 children. On January 7th, 1965 she married Jack Dempsey Harris and they raised 6 children, Valda, Kathy, Debby, Sarah, Valerie and Leon.
Betty was very active in her younger years; she loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, canning, fabric painting, raising poodles, fishing and shopping. She loved being dressed up in bright colors and jewelry, as her health declined she loved listen to country music. Betty collected Butterflies and angels.
Betty dedicated her life to Christ she was a member of the First Christan Church. She enjoyed reading her bible and monthly guidepost.
Betty worked at Carper Cafe, her and Dempsey ran a gas station for many years in Burlington and she was also employed at DDI.
Preceding her in death is parents, Dean and Leona Carson, Husband Jack Dempsey Harris, stepdaughter Valda Enos, granddaughter Jackie, and sister-in-law Kay Carson.
She leaves to mourn: daughter Debby Carson (Gary), daughter Sarah McManigal (Steve) daughter Valerie Boyd (Bill) step-daughter Kathy Short and son Leon Barkdoll. Grandkids, John Enos, Sammy Short III, Jimmy Short, Kya Cole, Teirra Cole, Tyler Boyd, Autumn Boyd and grand dog Gracey. Siblings, Robert Carson, Don Carson wife Jerri, Sue Ellis, Nancy Apodaca and Polly Potterf and many nieces and nephews.
