Obituary of Ruth Hoyda
Longtime Kit Carson county resident Ruth May Hoyda passed away on October 28, 2005 at the Presbyterian St. Lukeâs Hospital in Denver. She was 82 years old.
Ruth was born on February 11, 1923 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Peter Andrew and Ada M. (Henderson) Brown. She was one of eight children. Ruth attended various schools in Kit Carson County up through the eighth grade.
On July 11, 1942 Ruth married John Hoyda, Jr. in Goodland, Kansas. To this union, four children were born; Gary, Jeanie, Reta and Vickie.
The joy of her life was her home, family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed all of Godâs creation. Part of her favorites was the flowers and the birds. She was a very loving wife and mother to all of her family. She liked to cook, sew and piece quilts. Ruth enjoyed many years of being a member of the Merry Makers Club.
The last two years at the Bee Hive, were very special to her. The family she acquired and friendships she made were special to her. The care and love she received was excellent, and she appreciated all that was done for her.
Motherâs church has always meant a lot to her. Richard and Sharon always held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed the fellowship of Pastor Taylor and his wife Betty, and all the ministries at the Bee Hive.
John and Ruth celebrated 63 years of marriage, making many memories for all of us to cherish.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers and four great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband John of the home, one son Gary of Stratton; three daughters, Jeanie Stahlecker and her husband Willard of Bethune, Reta Schaal and her husband Dalwon of Burlington and Vickie Fisher and her husband Dean of Wray. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one brother Clarence Brown of Englewood, CO and one sister Vera Gillott of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hoyda were held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the Heritage Baptist Church in Stratton, Colorado with Pastor D. Ray Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Claremont Cemetery in Stratton. Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Church in Stratton.
Memorials may be made in Ruthâs name to the Tri-State Kidney Dialysis Center and may be left at the Bank of Burlington in Burlington, Colorado.
