Obituary of Anna Lofdahl
Anna Grace Hiatt Lofdahl was born on December 2, 1911 in Elsie, Nebraska to James Edgar and Jennie Lucinda (Brown) Hiatt, the fifth of seven children, and departed this life on November 13, 2005 at the of 93 years at her home in Hugo.
Grace went to school one year in Elsie and when the family moved to Arvada, Colorado she attended Arvada Schools through the 10th grade. The family then moved to Ordway, Colorado where she graduated from Ordway High School in 1929.
Grace was united in marriage to Harry Edgar Lofdahl on June 30, 1933 in Las Animas, Colorado. They spent almost all their married life in Lincoln County where they lived on the original Lofdahl homestead for some years. They moved to Hugo in 1942, where they lived for 30 some years before being forced to move closer to their children because of the ill health of Harry. In 1983 Grace moved to Page, AZ to be by her daughter Phyllis and family. She was very active in the Shepard of the Desert Lutheran Church and volunteered many hours at the Page, Hospital. Grace moved back to Colorado in 1996. She spent 6 years in Deer Trail to be by her daughter Pam and family.
She and her whole family were baptized and confirmed in Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Hugo. Grace has held fast to her faith and church all her life, and so looked forward to spending eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Grace enjoyed ceramics, sewing and was a wonderful cook with baking being her specialty. She was a 4-H Leader, Boy and Cub Scout Leader, and was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aide, VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters, as well as her beloved husband, Harry, and their firstborn son, Harry Donald, who died in infancy, and a son-in-law; Gerald Dzik.
Grace is survived by her sons; Patrick Lofdahl of Deer Trail, CO, Neil (Ann) Lofdahl of Buckeye, AZ, and daughters; Jennie (Joe) Lindsay of Big Sandy, MT, Mary Ann (Al) Dorsey of Chandler, AZ, Phyllis (Merlin) Hanners of Hugo, CO, Pam (Tom) Stoumbaugh of Deer Trail, CO, and Martha Dzik of St. Paul, Minn. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, one sister in law, Dorothy Hiatt and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Grace were held Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Hugo, CO with burial following at the Evergreen Cemetery, Reverend Donald R. Schulz officiating.
