Obituary of Elizabeth Vick
Elizabeth R. Vick of Fort Collins, CO passed away on December 3, 2005 at the age of 88 years.
Elizabeth was born in Diagonal, Iowa on June 11, 1917 to Hezekiah and Lillie Mae (Collins) Bentley. She was the second oldest of six children.
Elizabeth married Floyd Vick on March 4, 1937 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin. They immediately started their new life together on a ranch near Boyero, Colorado where they raised their family of four children in a small adobe house. They endured the rigors and hard times of Eastern Colorado ranch life. Here Elizabeth belonged to the Ladies Aid Club, then later to the Homestead Extension Club. She was a 4-H Club leader sharing her many creative talents. She was an active member of the Lincoln County Cowbells.
In 1975 Elizabeth and Floyd retired from ranching and moved to Fort Collins where they resided in the summer months and spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona making many lasting friends in both locations. They enjoyed their Good Sams Travel Club and especially the Summer Bummers. They traveled throughout most of the United States and several foreign countries. Even after Floydâs death Elizabeth continued to drive their travel trailer to the camp outs and remained active in their club activities.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and one sister a grandson, and her husband of 59 years Floyd Vick.
Elizabeth is survived two sons, Darrell and wife Barb Vick of Montrose, CO, Gene and wife Judy Vick of Hugo, CO; two daughters Carolyn Vick of Fort Collins, CO, Shirley and husband Grafton Summers of Kansas City, MO; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Elizabeth was held Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Hugo, CO with Rev. Olga Hard officiating. Musicians were Carl and Brenda Dutro.
