Obituary of Joseph Weingardt
Joseph Jacob âJoeâ? Weingardt passed away January 14, 2006 at his home in Burlington, Colorado. He was 85 years old.
Joe was born on January 7, 1921 in Stratton, Colorado to Henry and Anne (Schulte) Weingardt. He was one of eight children born to this union.
In 1945 Joe married Irene Keil in Chicago Illinois. To this union five children were born; Doyle, Keith, Marianne, Arlene and Connie. They farmed northwest of Stratton from 1950 until 1980 when they farmed north of Bethune until recently. Joe and Irene were married more than 50 years before her death in July of 1996. On December 18, 1998, Joe married Elizabeth (Gulley) Strick in Stratton, Colorado.
Joe spent many years hunting and fishing and traded for 62 years. He was the largest trader in the state of Colorado. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Stratton American Legion Post #138.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Irene, one son Keith, son-in-law Jim Regan, brother Lawrence and sisters Lillian Hoffer, Loretta Kimminau, Marie Hubbart, Mary Weingardt and Pauline Hoffer.
He is survived by his wife Liz of Burlington, son Doyle and wife Mary Pat of Burlington, Colorado; daughters Marianne Kachulis and husband Mike of Parker, Colorado, Arlene Rueb and husband John of Meridian, Idaho, Connie Allen and husband Rick of Drexol, Kansas; daughter-in-law Barbara Weingardt of Islamorada, Florida; step-daughters Gloria Adams and husband Don of Stratton, Colorado and Susan Hamilton and husband Clay of Kirk, Colorado; sister Padencanna Weingardt of OâFallon, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 10:00 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton, CO with Father Ernie Bond officiating. Burial followed immediately in the Calvary Cemetery in Stratton.
A Parish Rosary was recited for Mr. Weingardt on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the St. Catherineâs Catholic Church in Burlington. Memorials may be made in Joeâs name to the Tri-State Kidney Dialysis Center and may be left with Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
