Obituary of James Kountz

J.R. Kountz, age 83, of Flagler, Colorado passed away February 19, 2006. He was born November 13, 1922 to James and Emma Kountz on the family ranch south of Flagler. He was the third of five children. J.R. graduated from Flagler High School in 1941. He later entered the Navy and served in the U.S. during World War II. He was promoted to Chief Gunner’s Mate and received his Welding certificate in Omaha prior to his honorable discharge. Upon his return to Flagler, he met and married Eleanor Lang in 1951. To this union 4 children were born, three daughters; Kay, Ann, Jo, and one son, Jim. In 1957, J.R. and Ellie purchased their ranch south of Flagler. J.R. enjoyed ranching and all outdoors. He was delighted in all his grandchildren’s accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Hazel, Betty, and Pauline, two brothers; Merriel and Richard, son-in-law, Ron Baca, and a host of other family and friends. J.R. is survived by is wife, Ellie, daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bob Lee, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Charlie Worthington, daughter Jo Kountz-Baca, son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Janelle Kountz, sister and brother-in-law June and Harley Pottorff, sister Allie Jo Huntzinger, sister-in-law and husband, Annette and Steve Marusich, brother-in-law George Lang, and grandchildren, Kelsey and Kayla Lee, John and Sarah Worthington, Bryant and Morgan Baker, and many cherished nieces, nephews, their families and a wide host of local community friends. ***** The Family Will Be Doing Their Own Memorial Service.
