Obituary of Dale Jaques
Dale William Jaques 1939~2006
Dale William Jaques was born February 22, 1939 at Shaw, CO, the youngest of ten children. He passed away at the Sterling Regional Medical Center on March 16, 2006 at the age of 67 years, after losing his battle with cancer.
Dale began school at Bovina and then was transferred to Genoa, after the Bovina School closed. The family then moved so he attended and graduated from Arriba High School.
As a young man he worked for Ike Gustin of Limon doing construction
On August 30, 1958, he married Zenelda Mae Strode. They became the parents of seven children; four daughters; Debbie, Cindy, Becky and Susan and three sons; Danny, Ashley and Joshua.
Dale worked for the Rock Island Railroad for ten years, living at Bovina. He then moved to Flagler, resigned from the railroad and went to work for Snell Grain of Flagler for about five years then transferred to Flagler Coop Grain.
In 1972 he moved west of Flagler and started a small dairy and farmed. He later sold the farm and moved to Limon where he worked for Limon Coop. In 1990 he moved from Limon to Arriba where he did odd jobs of tree trimming, painting houses or whatever odd job was needed.
In 1993 he started working for the Colorado Department of Transportation where he managed road side parks and worked there until he retired in February 2003. Just after retiring Dale found out he had cancer.
Dale joined and was baptized in the Limon Seventh Day Adventist Church on December 18, 1976. He loved dogs and also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing in his spare time.
Dale was the youngest child to be born to the family of 10 children to Lula and Peoble Jaques, seven boys and three girls.
Dale was preceded in death by his mother and father, one sister; Mareland, one brother; Williford, one niece; Charlotte and one grand-daughter; Kayla.
Survivors include his children; Danny and his wife Sharon Jaques of Limon, CO, Debbie Jaques of Omaha NE, Cindy and her husband Matt Barlow of North Dakota, Becky and husband Allan Beechum of Del Norte, CO, Susan and husband Tom Talbot of Vail, CO, Ashley and Joshua Jaques of Missouri, thirteen living grandchildren, five brothers; Wilburn (Della) Jaques of Genoa, CO, Merrell of Yuma, CO, Derrell (Mary) of Arriba, CO, Charles (Doris) of Arriba, CO, and Darrold (Pattie) of Aurora, CO, two sisters; Georgia Eckley of Riverton, WY and Lorrain (Tom) Cash of Joes, CO., nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
The funeral services for Dale were held on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Congregational Church of Arriba. Visitation was held one hour prior to services. Interment followed at the Arriba Cemetery in Arriba, CO. Pastor Bob Strauch officiated.
