Obituary of Gladys Hutches
Gladys Marie Hutches, 91 years, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away March 16, 2006 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.
Gladys was born on June 3, 1914 in Waterloo, KS to John M. and Mary (Ambers) Hickey one of five children. She graduated from Vilas High School in 1932. After graduating Gladys worked as a housekeeper for several years.
Gladys married Lawrence Hutches on June 20, 1939 in Springfield, CO and the couple was blessed with six children.
Gladys was a member of the First Baptist Church in Simla, she belonged to the Ladies Aid and volunteered at the Simla Good Samaritan Care Center. She cooked for the Simla and Elbert Schools for 22 years. Gladys enjoyed crocheting and gardening as her hobbies.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son; Jimmie, two sisters, one brother, one half-brother and two half-sisters.
Gladys is survived by her son; Don Hutches of Viola, Idaho, daughters; Rita (Billie) Snyder of Golden, CO, Mary (Herb) Simshauser of Colorado Springs, CO, Melody Cordova of Midland, TX and Phyllis (Ed) Mateyka of Ellicott, CO, one sister; Dorothy Hansell of Springfield, CO, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one on the way, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in Simla, CO at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at the Simla Cemetery.
