Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident JoeAnna Jean Tonsing passed away on March 20, 2006 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She was 69 years old.
JoeAnna was born JoeAnna Jean Thompson on January 9, 1937 in Lamar, Colorado. Her parents were Hans and Juanita (Adams) Thompson.
As an adult she lived in Eads, Wray and finally settled and stayed in Burlington. She is loved by many, not to mention her many kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She is the 2nd oldest of six children; three sisters and two brothers.
JoeAnna has been a member of the 1st St. Paulâs Lutheran Church for over 40 years and put all her faith in Jesus. She is a strong believer of the church and made sure all of her kids were confirmed and baptized. For the past several years she has been attending prayer services in the mornings until she got too sick. She and Orlin have also attended many bible studies together. She had said several times that going to church kept her going and made her feel better.
Family was JoeAnnaâs life. She always had every holiday at her house, so if one of her kids or grandkids didnât have a place to go, they could always go to her house, and they always did. There were very few holidays that she did not have a house full.
JoeAnna is preceded in death by her father Hans Thompson; her two brothers Tim Thompson and Gary Osborn; two children Pamela Tonsing and Randy Osborn, and one grandson Mathew Osborn.
She is survived by her mother Juanita, her husband Orlin; seven sons, Rick Osborn and his wife Betty of Greeley, Colorado; Mike Tonsing and his wife Linda, and their children Seth , Aaron and Gloria of Huffman, Texas; Terry Hines of Burlington, Colorado; Bob Hines and his wife Gina, and their children Jamie, Logan and Brittany of Burlington, Colorado; David Hines and his daughter Bobbi of Burlington, Colorado; Dale Tonsing of Burlington, Colorado; and Doug Tonsing of Rush, Colorado; three daughters, Patricia Tonsing and her children Chuck and Cherri of Golden, Colorado; Sandra Bailey and her husband Raymond, and their daughter Johanna of Bennett; Cherry McCormick and her husband Jamie, and their children Jacob and Justin of Stratton.
