Obituary of Herman Erbert, Jr
Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Herman M. Erbert, Jr. passed away on April 1, 2006 at his home in Stratton, Colorado. He was 80 years old.
Herman was born on June 8, 1925 in Ellis, Kansas, the son of Herman and Emma K. (Goodchuck) Erbert. He was one of ten children.
Herman attended school in the Ellis School District and graduated from high school in 1943. In September of 1943, he was inducted into the United States Army and served as a radio operator during WWII for two and a half years.
On June 12, 1951, Herman married Dolores Irene Jostes in Stratton, Colorado. To this union, four children were born; Dan, Terrance, Fred and Jacque.
Herman spent most of his life as a wheat farmer. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the Stratton American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores, four sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by three sons; Dan Erbert of Colby, Kansas, Terrance Erbert and his wife Marianne of Littleton, Colorado and Fred Erbert of Stratton; one daughter Jacque Schmidt and her husband Nean of Stratton, Colorado; six grandchildren, Steve and Jason Erbert, Zach and Spencer Schmidt and Jeff and Emily Erbert. He is also survived by two step grandchildren David Marsh and his wife Nory of Parker, Colorado and their children Hudson and Carly and Todd Marsh of Tacoma, Washington; one brother John Erbert and his wife Maxine of Lakewood, Colorado; two sisters Tina Renlund and her husband Don of Madison, Wisconsin and Barbara Sanchez and her husband Gilbert of Paige, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Erbert was held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton with Father Ernest Bond officiating. Burial followed in the Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 04, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church in Stratton with a Parish Rosary that was recited at 7:00 PM.
Memorials may be made in Hermanâs name to the Stratton Area Foundation and may be left at the First National Bank in Stratton.
