Obituary of Merrell Jaques
Merrell Norman Jaques was born April 5, 1927 in Lansing, Kansas. The family then moved to Colorado where Merrell grew up in the community of Shaw, CO and attended the Glen School. He passed away at the Yuma Life Care Center on April 12, 2006 at the age of 79 years, after losing his battle with cancer.
On May 8, 1951 he married Mary Madalene Deeds. They became the parents of four children; two sons; Robert and Rodney and two daughters; Darlinda and Mary Elizabeth.
Merrell lived in Ontario, California for years, where he worked for Ontario Poultry Company and later as a technician for automobile transmission.
After retiring to Colorado, Merrell worked several years for Ralph Harreld constructing metal buildings, grain bins and also chemically treating grain. He also worked as a farm laborer driving tractors, combines, fixing fences or whatever was needed.
Merrell joined and was baptized in the Christian Church in Arriba in September 1962. He re-affirmed his faith to receive and confess Christ as his personal Savior on May 7, 2005. Merrell loved music and playing cards with his friends.
Merrell was the fifth child to be born to the family of 10 children to Lula and Peoble Jaques; seven boys and three girls.
Merrell was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include his children; Robert and wife Darla, Rodney and wife Angie, Darlinda and husband Jason, Mary Elizabeth and husband Kelly, all of Oregon. Eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four brothers; Wilburn and wife Della of Genoa, CO, Derrell and wife Mary of Arriba, CO, Charles and wife Doris of Arriba, CO and Darrold and wife Pattie of Aurora, CO, two sisters; Georgia Eckley of Riverton, WY and Lorrain and husband Tom Cash of Joes, CO, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
The funeral services for Merrell will be held on April 18, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at the Love Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Arriba Cemetery in Arriba, CO. with Chaplain Eldon Callahan officating.
Memorials are suggested to the Arriba Cemetery Association in care of Charles Rarick 413 Lincoln Street Arriba, Colorado 80804.
