Obituary of Douglas Hillman
Longtime Kit Carson County resident Douglas Lee Hillman, passed away April 26, 2006 at his home near Burlington. He was 76 years old. Doug was born on June 23, 1930, in Wakeeney, Kansas to Ray and Wahnetta (Ogle) Hillman.
He attended and graduated from Burlington High School in 1948.
Doug met and later married Betty Jean Zorn on March 23, 1966 in Burlington, Colorado. To this union one son Mark was born.
Doug attended the Evangelical Free Church in Burlington. Earlier in life, Doug taught Sunday school at the Burlington Christian Church and the Bethel Assembly of God Church; he was a County Commissioner, a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was also an Auctioneer.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty and a step-daughter Judy Bollwinkel. He is survived by son Mark and wife Heidi of Burlington; step-son Mike and wife Catharine Lamb of Burlington and step-son Tom Lamb of Idaho Springs. Doug is also survived by two brothers Philip and wife Jean Hillman of Littleton, Colorado and David and wife Sandra Hillman of Englewood, Colorado; one sister Vivian Richards of Vona, Colorado; four grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday May 1, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Burlington, with Pastor Ron Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.
Memorials may be made to the Kit Carson County Fairgrounds and may be left at the Bank of the West in Burlington.
