Obituary of Anna Schritter
Burlington, Colorado resident Anna Schritter died on May 1, 2006 at the Grace Manor Care Center, in Burlington at the age of 94.
Anna was born on July 21, 1911, in Streeter, North Dakota to William and Katherine (Stieger) Schulz. She was the second of five children: Lydia Schulz Schmeir, Anna Schulz Schritter, Adam Schulz, Christina Schulz Bentz, Amelia (Millie) Schulz Guab. When Anna was 7 years old, her mother died. Annaâs father then married Rosina Beringer Wolf, adding three stepsisters to the family: Ida Wolf Isernhagen, Emma Wolf Burntz, and Hilda Wolf Ziegler. In addition to this extended family, Anna eventually became a half sister to four new siblings: Rubin Schulz, Clara Schulz Knab, Bennie Schulz, And Alvin, who died as a child.
In 1930, Anna was married to John Schritter. They first lived near St. Francis, Kansas, and then later near Idalia, Colorado. They had three children: Clarence, Mildred, and Alfred. In 1944, the family moved to the Settlement north of Bethune and farmed until 1962 when John and Anna retired to Burlington. In 1968, they were divorced and she lived alone until her health started to fail her in 1995, when she moved into a rest home.
Anna was proceeded in death by her parents, one grandson, her son-in-law, and all of her siblings except her half sister Clara Knab of LaSalle, Colorado. She is also survived by son Clarence and wife Lena of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, daughter Mildred Kramer of Burlington, Colorado, and son Alfred and wife Jean of Yuma, Arizona. Anna leaves to mourn 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grand children, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Schritter were held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 1:30 PM at the First St. Paulâs Lutheran Church in Burlington with Pastor Jeff Hanson officiating. Burial followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery north of Bethune. Visitation was held on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorials may be made in Annaâs name to the Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington and may be left at the Equitable Savings and Loan in Burlington.
