Obituary of James Leach
James Addison Leach, born June 10, 1918 to Charley and Grace (Conrad) Leach in Avoca, NE one of two children. The family moved to Arriba in 1921. Jim lived with his father and Uncle R.B. and Ella Leach after his mother died when he was 15 months old. Aunt Ella was the only mother he knew.
Jim met and married Iola Plantz in 1940 to this union a son was born, James Harrison Leach. In 1945 Jim moved to Kansas and went to work for Broce Construction Co.
In 1951 he met and married Lila Jarvis and had one daughter Sharon Diane Leach Miller while living in Oklahoma. The family then moved back to Kansas and Jim worked construction before starting his own sand pit in Kinsley, Kansas.
James worked for a lumber yard in Granby, CO in the 1960âs until he moved back to Kansas to work the sand pit for 35 years and in 1998 he retired and moved to Genoa, Colorado where he resided until his death.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great - grandfather he really enjoyed the grandchildren and would give rides on his golf cart. When they would come to see him he would give them an ice cream bar or some kind of candy.
James was preceded in death by his parents; Charley and Grace Leach, Uncle R.B. Leach, his brother, Joseph Leach and his grandfather; George Washington Leach.
He is survived by his son James Harrison Leach and wife Kathryn (Hartman) Leach of Genoa, CO, daughter; Sharon Miller of Dodge City, KS, grandchildren; James Kelly Leach of Genoa, Kimberly Ann (Leach) Glass and husband Will of Genoa, Connie Marie (Leach) Bray of Alamosa, Christopher Michael Leach of Dodge City, KS and Albert Joe Leach also of Genoa, Shanan Ray Shute of Wichita, KS, Shawn Allin Shute of Dodge City, KS and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the Love Funeral Home Chapel burial followed at the Arriba Cemetery in Arriba, CO.
