Obituary of Dorothy Hubbard
Dorothy Marie Hubbard was born to Henry and Mary (Nall) Katz, near Offerle, Kansas on August 14, 1925. She was the 5th of 6 children. She passed away on May 26, 2006 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington at the age of 80.
Dorothy was a woman of many talents and had a great love for family. Her love and strength were shown in many ways by being there when anyone needed a helping hand.
Dorothy married Jerome Stegman on November 28, 1952. They lived south of Stratton, CO until 1964 when they moved to Stratton. After Jeromeâs death in 1983, Dorothy went to work as a Teacherâs Aide and Librarian. All the while being a full time mother and homemaker.
To the joy of all their children, Dorothy married Sidney James Hubbard on November 30, 1991.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerome, one sister, three son-in-laws and one great granddaughter.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Sidney, Mary Ann Smelker, Kenneth Stegman (Pat), Andrea Maxon (Claude), Connie Baker (David), Kathy Leavitt, Virginia Dobler (Allan), Pat Pickard, Collen Stutzman (Ray), Robert Stegman (Lynette), George Stegman (Michelle), Linda Johnson (Johnny), Delmar Stegman, Theresa Amos (Mark), Steve Stegman (Connie), Elizabeth Pautler (Tim), Cindy Robinson (Jay), Rita Kadavy (John), Jeanine Hornung (William, Jr.), Jackie Lollar (John), Bernard Stegman (Mary), Juleen Fox (Brian), Jim Hubbard (Mary Lou), Sue Cox (Terry), Walter Hubbard, Kevin Hubbard (Debra), Larry Hubbard (Cara), seventy-nine grandchildren, seventy-six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by those who affectionately called her Mama, Mother, Grandma Dot and Dorothy.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hubbard were held on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton, Colorado, with Father Ernest Bond officiating. Burial followed in the Calvary Cemetery in Stratton.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a parish rosary that was recited at 7:00 PM at the church in Stratton.
Memorials may be made in Dorothyâs name to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation or to the Stratton Ambulance and may be left at the First National Bank in Stratton.
