To Julie and her family: I am so sorry for your loss. My family and I had just seen Norm at the pancake breakfast on Saturday morning at the fairgrounds. We had a nice visit about you and your children. It took him a minute to realize that we were classmates. We were shocked to hear the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Rely on your memories of him. They will comfort you.

Norm was a kind and gentle man who was very helpful to me in the early days of Rotary Global History Fellowship. I know he will be missed, but I also know that he left much in the hearts of those who knew him. I'm one of those he touched and it counts. Rtn. John M. Selway Pueblo, CO

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Susie and the kids, and the entire Penny family at this sad time. We regret that we were not able to attend the services for Norm, but please know that all of you have been in our thoughts the past few days. What a kind and genuine man Norm was, and he will be greatly missed in the Burlington community.

Our deepest sympathies to your family. Norm was a very kind and caring man. Over the years, I always enjoyed visiting with Norm when we attended the same banking meeting. I already miss seeing him walk by Equitable S&L every morning on his way to the post office. I don't think I ever saw Norm when he didn't have a smile on his face. Norm lived his life as a great example for the rest of us to follow. He will be missed by many. Barb Young

We received the word of Norm's passing, about one hour after it happened Saturday night. Needless to say, we were in shock. He lived the perfect life and took good care of himself. A better person in life you will never find. Norm always went out of his way to help others, always had that smile on his face and a glint in his eye. I was very lucky to have known Norm.I nicknamed him "Stormin' Norman" the first time I saw him wrestle at Hinckley High in Aurora. I don't believe I ever missed a state tournament match that he was in his entire high school career. He brought wrestling to the highest level at Burlington high school. The Gene Penny family have stood tall in the Burlington community for years. I was in Burlington for Collin Koop's graduation, and am so glad we came, two of the highlights, along with seeing many friends and watching Collin graduate, will be the fact that I got to have a short visit with Norm on Awards night and about a 30 to 40 minute visit one evening at the Interstate House after Rotary was over. I will treasure those two visits the rest of my life. To the entire Penny family, our thoughts and prayers are with you and this is such a great loss for the Burlington Community. God bless you all at this time. A gentle and more wonderful person than Norm, never walked the streets of Burlington,Colorado. Sincerely, George and Linda Tyrrell
