Obituary of Lewis Pemberton
Lewis Pemberton passed away Sunday July 2, 2006 at the Lutheran Medical Center. Lewis Pemberton was born August 3, 1918 in Taneyville Missouri to John Alfred Pemberton and Sarah Francis (Silvey) Pemberton. Lewis had seven brothers, Lawrence, Thomas, Loyde, Wilmer ,Melvin, Arthur and Wade, and two sisters Irene and Ruth. The Pemberton family came to Colorado by covered wagon and settled in the Kiowa area. Lewis attended school in Kiowa and then worked at various jobs such as farming, trucking, carpentry, maintenance worker for Elbert County and 25 years as a maintenance worker for the Colorado State Highway Department and retired in 1979.
Lewis was married to Margaret May Watson and they had 5 children. One boy who died at birth, and four daughters, Linda May married to Darwin Wilson, Theresa Marie, married to Terry Cook, Margaret Ilene, married to Dennis Arfsten and Donna Louise, married to Dale Trainer. Margaret passed away September 17, 1966 leaving Lewis to care for the girls.
Lewis married Evelyn Stone on October 27, 1972, who had three children, Daniel, Colleen and Terry. Together they had 19 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren.
Lewis was preceded in death by his Parents and Brothers Loyde, Melvin, Thomas, Wilmer, Lawrence and Art, his wives Margaret and Evelyn , Son in Law Darwin Wilson and Granddaughter Sandra Arfsten and Great Granddaughter Shelby Molyneaux.
Lewis will be greatly missed by his four daughters and their families, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday July 07, 2006 at the Life In Christ Church (formerly 1st. Baptist Church). Visitation will be Thursday July 06, 2006 from 1:00 â 4:00 pm at the Love Funeral Home.
Burial will be held following the funeral service in the Pershing Memorial Cemetery in Limon.
